Filming in Zurich for Zscaler and Hitachi Energy

In short

Earlier this year I filmed in Zurich for Zscaler’s customer story with Hitachi Energy. Daniel Smith brought me onto the production team, and my part was the on-location production: filming Michael Loechle’s interview and capturing the B-roll for the video on Zscaler’s website. Here is the project, and how it was shot.

Earlier this year I was in Zurich filming an interview that’s now part of Zscaler’s Hitachi Energy customer story. It’s a project I’m proud to have been part of.

Daniel Smith brought me onto the production team, and my role covered the on-location production, filming Michael Loechle’s interview and capturing the B-roll for the video now featured on Zscaler’s website.

The story behind the film

Hitachi Energy develops power-grid technology used around the world, from transformers to the systems that help keep electricity flowing. Zscaler is a global cybersecurity company specialising in cloud security and zero trust. This customer story looks at how Hitachi Energy uses Zscaler to protect its global operations.

It was a pleasure to film Michael and hear about the work behind that story. When a company operates at this scale, there’s a lot to fit into a short film. My part was to capture the interview and supporting footage with the care a project like this deserves.

How it was shot

For anyone interested in the filming side, this is what went into the shoot:

  • CamerasSony cameras, shooting in 4K using S-Log3
  • SoundA boom microphone just out of frame, with a backup lavalier
  • LightA carefully lit interview set-up
  • MovementA professional DJI gimbal stabiliser for smooth B-roll

Plenty of thought goes into what you eventually see and hear on screen.

You won’t find behind-the-scenes photos in this post, and that’s by design. Out of respect for everyone’s privacy, the finished film is the only part of the shoot that’s shared publicly. Discretion is part of the job on a project like this.

Thank you

A big thank you to Julie Ilott at Zscaler for bringing our team onto the project, to Dan Smith for inviting me to be part of it, and to Michael for his time. And thank you to everyone across the production, Zscaler and Hitachi Energy teams who made it happen. It was a great day of filming in Zurich, and it’s lovely to see the finished work out in the world.
